Introduction of Hearing AIDS:-
- Hearing aid is a small electronic device which fits in or behind the ear .
- It makes some sound louder so that a person with hearing loss can listen , communicate and participate in daily activities .
- Hearing aids can help the people hear more quite and noisy situations .
Basic parts of Hearing AIDS
A hearing aid has 4 basic parts :-
1. Microphone
2. Amplifier
3. Speaker
4.battery
1.Microphone
It recive the sound waves from the air and change the sound into electric signals and send them to an amplifier.
2.Amplifier
The amplifier increase the power of the signals and then sends them to the speaker.
3.Speaker
Speaker again change the electric signal in to sound waves.
4.Battery
To provide the electrolyte energy needed to opening the hearing aid.
Types of Hearing AIDS
Many types of hearing aids which present in various size, power and amplification.
These are.........
1.behind the ear (BTE):-
This aids have a hard plastic cover that fits behind the ear and connected to a plastic ear mold that fits inside the outer ear.
The electronic parts held in the case behind the ear.
Sound travel from hearing aid through the ear mold and into the ear.
BTE are used by people of all ages of mild to profound hearing loss.
2. In the ear:-
ITE hearing aid are completely present in the ear or ear canal .this type of hearing aid are costom mode to fit in each individual ear.
This hearing aid are used for mild to severe hearing loss.
3. In the canal :-
This type of hearing aid are smaller and fit inside the external ear canal .
They can't be seen face to face with someone .
4.spectacle type :-
This hearing aid components are fit in a spectacle frame .
It is useful for the person who required glass along with hearing aid .
5. Bone conduction hearing aid:-
A bone conduction vibrator is placed on mastoid bone behind the ear.
Care & maintenance of hearing aids
- Prevent it from falling down .
- Don't spill liquid on the hearing aid .
- Protect it from dust ,dert and heat.
- Remove the battery from the hearing aid when it is not in use.
- The hearing aid should be fitted well.
